Jay Maisel first studied photography at Cooper Union and Yale. He became known to take pictures that capture the light, color and gestures that are unique in everyday life. For 40 years, he would take pictures for clients all around the world. These clients included magazine covers, music albums, and advertising. More recently, he has done more photography for his personal portfolio. He also travels the world to teach and lecture students about photography. Although he is concentrating on his personal work, he is still selling the prints of different photos he has taken.

 

When I first looked at his work I loved how simple most of his photos were. He was able to capture pictures of everyday life which put a smile on my face when I looked at his work. I was able to create a story in my head about his photos which made my experience looking at his work more enjoyable.
